Ya Mong Dang is the red warming balm of Thai herbal practice, built on stic lac oil ‚ the red resin secreted by the lac insect (Kerria lacca) on its host trees and processed by farmers across Thailand, Laos, India and China into shellac. Rubbed into the skin it produces a strong, spreading warmth that Thai massage has used for generations on tired backs, shoulders and joints. It is potent: a pea-sized drop covers more than 100 square centimetres.

How to Use

External use only. Apply a small amount (a pea-sized drop covers more than 100 cm² of skin) and massage into the area 1–3 times a day; covering the area with a cloth afterwards makes the warmth more noticeable. Wash your hands thoroughly after use. Do not apply to damaged or irritated skin. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose and mouth, which can cause a harmless but unpleasant burning sensation; remove from skin with vegetable oil or a nourishing cream, and from the eyes with clean petroleum jelly. Store away from direct sunlight at 15–30°C.
